Hertford’s next mayor revealed

Cllr David Poole (Con, Bengeo) has been nominated as the next mayor of Hertford at a meting of the full town council on March 30.

He will take over from the current mayor Cllr Kim Darby (con, Bengeo) on May 21, the start of the civic year.

The role of mayor is a largely symbolic one, representing the town at civic occasions, as well as at school, club and charity events. The post is held for 12 months between each election by the full town council.

Accepting the nomination, Cllr Poole said "Thank you very much for your confidence.

"I have been quite involved in the Scouts, Guides, Cubs and Brownies where the promise is ‘I will do my best'. I will carry on my promise".
