Volunteers Required for Exciting Roles Within East Herts People

Bloggers and Contributors required - We want your views!

At East Herts People we're keen to involve the public and current Independent Councillors with our work as much as possible. So if you're passionate about your local area and enjoy local politics, we want to hear from you.

We're looking for residents of East Hertfordshire that support non-partisan politics to contribute to our website. We want volunteers to write articles, press releases, blog entries and update our Facebook and Twitter page.

This role is home based and due to our remit, all volunteers need to live in East Hertfordshire. We estimate that volunteers will spend a few hours each week of their responsibilities.

It's a great opportunity for those who are interested in politics to get involved with an innovative grass roots organisation. All volunteers will be fully supported and gain essential skills in writing, web design and experience of working in a political environment.

Good afternoon ehp.

I read about your innovative work through a comment at power2010.

Although I am not a resident nor primarily at this time concerned with local government politics we do share some hopes for the future.

At the moment I am trying to get the idea of Local Independents to be elected to Parliament across to all that will listen and to those less willing to listen.

My main driving force is the near %50 of registered voters who did not vote at the last general election (2005) and I feel that independent candidates is one way of engaging with the non-voter.

The slogan I use currently in the hope of attracting comment is...

"Vote for option 4 or more."

But, enough of me for the time being.

Are there any other groups such as yours? I would be very interested in learing of them if such there are.

Thank you for your time and your space. I wish you all the very best.

Hi Oudeis,

Thanks for your comments and I'm glad you enjoy our website.

There are numerous Independent Groups in the UK with a similar remit to ours. The Independent Group at the Local Government Association has started to compile a list of these. You can find more information about these groups by checking out their website: http://www.independent.lga.gov.uk/lga/core/page.do?pageId=311947

If you're interested in promoting Independents in Parliament, I recommend you get in touch with the Independent Network (http://www.independentnetwork.org.uk/). They will be able to provide you with guidance and advice on standing as an Independent MP.

If you have any questions, or would simply like a quick chat, please don't hesitate to contact us: info@ehpeople.org 01992 310097

Thanks
